“They were fast, hungry and aggressive,” was Buckie Thistle boss Graeme Stewart’s candid assessment of champions Brora Rangers as they dismantled his team in clinical fashion 8-1 last Saturday at Victoria Park.
This was the first time Buckie had conceded eight goals in a Highland League game for 33 years.
“Fair play to them, they were very ruthless and clinical in front of goal,” added Stewart.
“We defended quite poorly. We weren’t matching them in the air and even when we were we weren’t winning the second balls. We need to work on defending and finishing in training.”
“I believe in the team and that’s what I said to them after the game. Some of them maybe need to believe in themselves a bit more,” Stewart said.
The Jags will look to get their season kick started away to Fraserburgh this Saturday.
Stewart is confident that a number of the eight players missing last weekend, will return to the squad.
