Trailing 1-0 to a Craig Cormack goal, the Jags saw Iain MacRae dismissed for a second yellow card after a foul and moments later Lewis Mackinnon walked after branding the decision to send off MacRae “a disgrace” to whistler Liam Duncan, therefore receiving a second yellow for dissent.
That rounded off a miserable afternoon for Buckie who were well beaten in the second half by a more determined and clinical Keith side.
Keith could have added a second late on when they blew a three-on-one opportunity against the nine-men Jags.
Buckie also had chances in an open first half. Chris Angus headed wide from six yards after a great ball into the box by Paul Napier.
Napier was again the provider for Angus after 25 minutes and although his effort was blocked by defender Aaron Scully, he was able to lay the ball into the path of Kevin Fraser who saw his shot brilliantly saved by Daniel Bell in the Keith goal.
A minute before the break, Bell made a great double save to deny Napier and then Fraser.
Keith had carved out some good chances of their own in the first half with Hamish Ritchie and Scott Whelan firing efforts over the bar, and Mike Ewen sending a header just over.
Buckie were fortunate not to concede a penalty when Cormack’s long clearance saw Ewen outpace Chris Hegarty inside the box and the Buckie defender’s despairing tackle was deemed legitimate by the referee.
Cormack looked set to open the scoring with a thundering volley which was saved superbly by Buckie keeper Aaron Sherman – drafted in from Buckie Rovers to deputise for the injured Andy Burr and unavailable Greig Sim.
Kris Duncan had the ball in the net for Keith late on but he was ruled offside and for Buckie, the closest they came to a goal after the break was a Shaun Carroll effort which was deflected wide.
